Media Release - ALI Group Partners with Kids Under Cover

To ensure more support for prevention of youth homelessness

12 August 2014 – Australia’s leading loan protection specialist, ALI Group, has announced that it has partnered with not-for-profit organisation, Kids Under Cover, to raise awareness for and support the prevention of youth homelessness in Australia.

The three-year partnership commenced on Monday 4th August to coincide with Homeless Persons Week (4-10 August), which is held each year on the first full week in August.

“We are very pleased to support the important work of Kids Under Cover. Both ALI group and Kids Under Cover have a strong focus on preventing hardship and ensuring the ongoing security of a home” ALI Group CEO Huy Truong said.

“Moreover, we look forward to sharing this initiative with the broking community. Our Authorised Representatives, who seek to protect their clients when establishing their loans, often speak about the importance of helping to keep people in their homes. The work of Kids Under Cover really reinforces why ALI group and its brokers do what we do” said Mr Truong.

“We firmly believe the most effective way to reduce the number of young people experiencing homelessness is through prevention and early intervention - shelter, education and mentors help young people stay connected to their family, to education and with their community.

With the support of progressive and community minded businesses like ALI Group, young people will be able to build a brighter future” said Kids Under Cover National CEO Jo Swift.

About Kids Under Cover

On any given night there are around 105,000 people living homeless across Australia, nearly half of whom are under 25. Kids Under Cover takes an early intervention approach to find solutions to issues in the lives of young people that put them at-risk of becoming homeless.

Homeless young people are less likely to stay engaged with school, find jobs, get access to rental housing and maintain friendships. And, without the right support will struggle with homelessness their entire lives.

Breaking this cycle of disadvantage is no easy feat. But that’s exactly what Kids Under Cover has been doing since 1989. As pioneers in the prevention of youth homelessness, we have a proud history of success. We deliver unique early intervention programs to prevent youth homelessness by providing relocatable studio accommodation and complementing this with scholarships and mentoring for at-risk and homeless young people.

Last year we assisted 550 disadvantaged young people bringing the total number assisted since 1989 to almost 3,000.
