An optional life insurance policy - which provides you with a payment in the event of serious illness, specified injury, or death.

It’s safe to assume that our standard of living, health and family are important to us. However, there are certain events, such as serious illness or injury, which can put your home, lifestyle and future plans at risk.

What’s your back up plan? If you haven't got a clear plan, you're not alone. People don't even like to think about it – even though they need to.

1 Trauma Benefit

    Neurological Conditions

  • Alzheimer's disease - dementia (diagnosis and with cognitive impairment)
  • stroke (of specified severity)*
  • motor neurone disease (diagnosis)
  • multiple sclerosis (recurrent episodes with impairment level)
  • Cancers and Tumour Conditions

  • benign tumour in the brain or spinal cord (with neurological deficit)*
  • cancer (excluding early stage cancers)*
  • carcinoma in situ of the breast (of specified severity)*
  • chronic lymphocytic leukemia (of specified severity)*
  • melanoma (of specified severity)*
  • prostate cancer (of specified severity)*
  • Heart Conditions

  • angioplasty (triple vessel)*
  • cardiac arrest (out of hospital)*
  • cardiomyopathy (with significant permanent impairment)*
  • coronary artery bypass surgery*
  • heart attack (of specified severity)*
  • heart valve surgery*
  • open heart surgery*
  • aortic surgery*
  • Other Serious Conditions

  • chronic kidney failure (end stage)
  • severe burns (of specified extent)
  • loss of independent existence
  • loss or paralysis of limb (permanent)

Trauma Benefits will not be payable where the condition does not meet the policy definition. *If the condition has an asterisk, (*) a 90-day qualifying period applies. This means that if the condition first occurs, becomes reasonably apparent or is first diagnosed in the 90 days after:

• the policy start date, the benefit will not be payable.

• a benefit increase, the increase in benefits will not be payable.

2 Death and Terminal Illness Benefit

Spare your family financial hardship. Pays a benefit if you die or are diagnosed with a terminal illness (min. $100,000 and max. $1,000,000).

Benefit payments can be used for any purpose - paid to joint owner, estate or nominated beneficiaries.

This benefit provides a Funeral Advancement payment - a $10,000 advancement of the Death Benefit. These funds can be used to help with urgent expenses while a claim is being assessed (payment of the Funeral Advancement does not mean that the claim will be accepted).

Specified Injury Benefit

Financial assistance while you’re on the mend. Pays a benefit (maximum $7,500) if you suffer a fracture of your:

  • Skull (excluding bones of the face or nose)
  • Jaw
  • Collar bone
  • Shoulder blade
  • Upper arm (between the elbow and shoulder)
  • Forearm (including wrist but excluding elbow or hand)
  • Pelvis
  • Upper leg (between the hip and knee)
  • Kneecap
  • Lower leg (including the ankle but excluding the knee and foot)

My Protection Plan pays you (or your estate or beneficiary). What this means is that you (or your estate or beneficiary) can choose how to use your payout.

My Protection Plan policy is not linked to your loan. So, if you change lenders, you're still protected (subject to the terms and conditions of this policy).

1 Eligibility

To be eligible for this policy, each life insured must:

  • have or be seeking to take out an eligible loan, or be the partner of someone who has applied for My Protection Plan
  • be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, or hold an Australian Permanent Residency Visa
  • be 18 to 59 years old
  • have more than $100,000 but no more than $1,000,000 in total Death and Terminal Illness Benefit across all My Protection Plan policies issued by Zurich at the time of the new application (including this policy)
  • have lived in Australia on a permanent basis for at least 6 months continuously during the past 12 months. Being away from Australia for work purposes or holidays does not count for determining if they have lived in Australia continuously.

The policy owner must receive a copy of the PDS in Australia.

  • Align your premium payments with your pay cycle
Benefits
  • Death and Terminal Illness Benefit: Pays a benefit to you, your estate, or nominated beneficiary (minimum of $100,000 and maximum, $1,000,000).
  • Trauma Benefit: Covers 22 serious medical conditions.
  • Specified Injury Benefit: Equal to 3% of the Death and Terminal Illness Benefit (maximum $7,500).

Terms and conditions apply, including exclusions for pre-existing medical conditions (illness and injury) over the last 5 years, and qualifying periods for some conditions. Please ensure you read the Product Disclosure Statement and Policy Document for full details.

One More Thing

To give you time to check your details and make sure My Protection Plan meets your needs, your first 30 days are complimentary. That means in the first year of your policy you will only pay 11 months premium.
